Es un alma en pena..

Lucia Mendez - Un Alma En Pena

I've never seen this! This is Lucia's "official" video for "Un alma en pena", which was the unnoficial theme song for her incredible soap opera from 1988 titled "El Extraño Retorno De Diana Salazar". I found this video on youtube. It's so cheesy! The soap was about a woman who was burned at the stake in the 1600's and gets reincarnated in modern times to find her true love. It had lots of special effects, it was entertaining at best.

Enjoy this vid!

Oh the memories!. I remember being outraged about them not using this as the soap's theme. But now, the snappy Juanga song seems so out-of-context with the big drama of the story. The video is well done though, by none other than her then-husband Pedro Torres.

The hting one can find in YouTube

tnx!

I was listening to this song last Tuesday and thinking what a fantastic idea that telenovela was, so original. Fuck 'The clone' and South American bullshit, Diana Salazar was groundbreaking, almost 20 years ago. Wish it was on DVD, I never saw it as I was eleven back then... it would take one more year before I saw my first novela, Teresa.

"Teresa"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always wanted to see that one. I'm not sure where you're from..but obviously I'm from Chicago and here prior to 1994, we only had Univision on Channel 26 from 3:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. So all the programming they showed in the afternoon we couldn't watch. And "Teresa" was shown in the afternoon..even though it was a huge hit in Mexico on prime time. Pendejos.

THEN..in 1995 after "Desperado" became a hit, Galavision reaired "Teresa" at 7:00 P.M. but my fucking father was always watching TV, and it's not like he was/is the nicest person in the world so he never stopped watching TV for me to watch my novela :(

Also, Univision re-aired "El Extraño Retorno De Diana Salazar" late night in 1995 as well..that's how I got to rewatch it :). Little did I know there would be such a demand for it, I would have recorded them!

that was me before... they never re-aired either of those in Mexico. IF -and that's a big if- they did, it must have been on the Telenovelas channel, but never on Canal 2 or 9.

"Morir un Poco", the theme that was ultimately used for El Extrano Retorno de Diana Salazar, was definitely much better and more appropriate. I love that Telenovela, and you can still find a few clips on YouTube. I really wish they would release the novela on DVD. Siiiigh...
